Job summary

Weiss-Aug, a precision manufacturing leader in New Kensington, PA, seeks a Quoting/Estimating Engineer to craft complex proposals and develop integrated manufacturing solutions for customers worldwide. You will collaborate with Business Development, Engineering Innovation, and Operations to deliver accurate costing, optimized lead times, and strong pricing strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years in cost estimation in manufacturing, with precision machined components.
• Direct experience in medical, automotive or aerospace industries.
• Experience with ERP systems (PLEX preferred), cost modelling tools and quotation workflows.
• Experience with Contract Manufacturers or OEMs.
• Strong engineering background with knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials and equipment.
• Proficiency in estimating manufacturing processes and DFM considerations.

Responsibilities

• Manage quote opportunities and meet quotation deadlines.
• Assess RFQ feasibility and analyze cost factors including materials, labor, tooling, and equipment.
• Review models and specs for manufacturability, tolerances, and tooling impact.
• Generate formal quotations with clear assumptions, lead times and terms.
• Develop quotations for post-order modifications and changes.
• Validate cycle times, scrap assumptions, and processing details with Engineering.
• Support Sales during customer interactions and RFQs, documenting assumptions.
• Coordinate with Supply Chain on raw materials, lead times, and costs.
• Coordinate with Quality Engineering on regulatory and inspection expectations.
• Maintain cost models, work center rates, and estimation templates.
• Refine estimating logic using performance data and update ERP inputs.
• Track quote-to-actual performance and drive cost transparency.

We're currently seeking a passionate and skilled Quoting/Estimating Engineer to join our team and contribute to our mission of delivering high-quality, engineered solutions to our customers worldwide. In this role you will be responsible for crafting complex proposals and developing unique, vertically integrated manufacturing solutions for our customers, supporting the Machining Operations. This is role is an engineering liaison working with Business Development Managers, Engineering Innovation Teams, Manufacturing Centers of Excellence, and Executive Leadership with the purpose of generating accurate and detailed costing proposals that exceed customer expectations for quality, price, and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Manage quote opportunities and meet Quotation deadlines.
• Conducts the feasibility of RFQ’s and analyzes data on all factors that affect the cost and manufacturability of the product, including engineering drawings, raw materials, labor, equipment, tools, and capital costs.
• Review customer models, prints, and specifications for manufacturability and identify risks, required tolerances, durometer considerations, and tooling impacts.
• Generate formal customer quotations with clear assumptions/exceptions, lead times and commercial terms.
• Develops the quotations of the modifications/adjustments occurring after the initial order.
• Work with Engineering to validate cycle times, scrap assumptions and other processing details.
• Support Sales and Business Development during customer interactions, RFQ’s, technical calls and quote reviews documenting assumptions for tracking purposes.
• Partner with Supply Chain to verify raw material cost, MOQ, lead time and other purchasing requirements.
• Coordinate with Quality Engineering on regulatory and inspection requirements/expectations (AQL, PPAP, IQ/OQ/PQ efforts).
• Maintain accurate cost models, work center rates, and quoting templates.
• Continuously refine estimating logic using actual performance data (cycle time, scrap, productivity).
• Update ERP system with validated costing inputs as required.
• Track quote-to-actual performance and drive cost transparency across the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related field).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost estimation or a related role in the manufacturing industry, with specific experience in precision machined components
• Direct experience in medical, automotive or aerospace
• Experience with ERP systems (PLEX preferred), cost modelling tools and quotation workflows.
• Experience working for a Contract Manufacturer or OEM
• Strong engineering background with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment
• Ability to identify the best possible manufacturing processes
• Proficiency in using SolidWorks or equipment CAD/CAM software packages for estimating and DFM purposes
