Job summary

Flex is seeking a Quote Engineer in Columbia, SC to act as the technical and financial expert on the quote team. You will coordinate with BDM, sites, and project managers to develop accurate cost models and support business proposals.

The role requires 4+ years in quote engineering/financial evaluations, strong Excel/PowerPoint skills, and excellent communication. Relocation is domestic; sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or equivalent experience in manufacturing.
• 4+ years of supervisor experience.
• 4+ years in quote engineering/financial evaluations/commodities.
• Expert in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete detailed cost models for each quote, ensuring correct processes and verified assumptions with business teams.
• Follow internal documented quote processes.
• Participate in Quote Strategy and Kick-Off calls.
• Review customer documentation for technical accuracy.
• Build relationships with site engineering resources.
• Ensure profitability through site and sales alignment.
• Create cost models for budgetary or quick-turn quotes.
• Manipulate cost model data and perform cost and price roll-ups.
• Communicate cost and operations data between site engineering and finance.
• Review input cost model data for accuracy and viability.
• Provide financial evaluation to the BDM team.
• Deliver final pricing and financial assumptions for quotes.

Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Quote Engineer located in Columbia South Carolina.

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Operations, the Quote Engineer will be the technical and financial expert on the quote team. The role of the Quote Engineer is to coordinate with the BDM, sites, Quote Project Managers and other resources and to build and manage cost models for quotes. Quote Engineers use their technical knowledge of the process, finance and other tools to develop accurate quotes to support Flex business proposals.

What a typical day looks like:

• Complete the detailed Cost models for each quote, ensuring correct processes, content and verify all assumptions with Business teams and operations
• Follow all necessary internal documented processes required for quotes
• Participate in Quote Strategy / Attend Kick-Off calls
• Detailed technical review of customer documentation as necessary
• Build and manage relationships with site engineering resources
• Check & balance of manufacturing site and sales team to ensure profitability
• Create cost models for budgetary or quick turn quotes when demand requires
• Cost Model data manipulation / Cost & Price roll-up / VAM Creation based on docs and quote strategy
• Site engineering and Finance Cost and operations communication
• Review any cost model inputs provided by sites for accuracy
• Ensure financial viability and accuracy of cost models used
• Documentation of any cost activity for future changes and/or evaluations
• Provide financial evaluation for the BDM Team on quote
• Provide final pricing and financial assumption to be included in quote letter

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Bachelor’s Degree Finance or equivalent experience in Manufacturing Industry
• 4+ years Supervisor experience
• 4+ years Quote Engineering/ Financial / Product Evaluations/ Commodities
• Expert in Microsoft office
• Expert in Excel & PowerPoint
• Expert Communication Skills (Written and Verbal)
