Job summary

The Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University Chicago seeks a full-time, non-tenure track Instructor of Economics for a one-year appointment starting in Fall 2025. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of economics courses and engaging actively in departmental responsibilities as well as fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of an earned Master's degree in Economics or related field.
  • Evidence of recent research activities defined by AACSB as Scholarly Active.
  • Previous teaching experience related to economics in a university setting is preferred.

The Department of Economics in the Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University Chicago invites candidates to apply for a full-time, one-year, non-tenure track faculty appointment beginning in Fall 2025. Previous teaching experience related to economics in a university setting is highly preferred. Evidence of professional leadership and recognition (such as participation and leadership in professional associations, presentations of research, or significant achievements) or scholarly contributions are required.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach undergraduate or graduate courses in Economics. Expertise in teaching undergraduate courses in principles of microeconomics, principles of macroeconomics, intermediate microeconomics and intermediate macroeconomics is required. Also, skills to teach graduate level courses in managerial economics are highly valued. The Economics Department offers a wide range of upper-level undergraduate elective courses. https://catalog.luc.edu/undergraduate/arts-sciences/economics/economics.pdf Guidance with teaching is provided by the chair of the Department and under the mentorship of experienced faculty who oversee the curriculum.

Other responsibilities include participation in faculty discussions to develop and maintain an appropriate curriculum for Economics and other administrative responsibilities may consist of engaging in impactful service roles at Quinlan. This salary range is for a nine-month academic appointment. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree; training; field or discipline; budget availability; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
