Job summary

NESL is seeking an experienced Quarry Superintendent to lead the Roaring Spring Quarry. You will drive a safe, productive, and efficient operation to provide the community with quality aggregate products.

Responsibilities include safety training and oversight, production planning, equipment maintenance, records management, and collaboration with sales. A minimum of five years in surface mining and MSHA Part 46/48 certification are required.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of relevant experience in surface aggregate mining, processing and maintenance.
• MSHA Part 46 or 48 certification.
• Associates Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or relevant discipline preferred; experience may substitute.

Responsibilities

• Manage site safety through training and observation of workforce.

• Oversee production plan efficiency and quality, meeting targets within budget.
• Develop maintenance plan including outages and preventive maintenance.
• Maintain records via daily production reports, inventory, and supplies.
• Lead hiring, promotions, and time approvals as part of workforce management.
• Coordinate toolbox talks, JHA meetings, and pre-shift huddles.
• Assist inspectors (MSHA/DEP) with site inspections.
• Work with sales and other lines of business to ensure product availability.
• Maintain orderly facility appearance and lead 5S initiatives.
• Maintain positive relations with site neighbors.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Quarry Superintendent to lead our Roaring Spring Quarry. NESL's Quarry Superintendents are responsible for leading a safe, productive, and efficient aggregate operation to provide the community with quality products.

Quarry Superintendent - What Will You Do?

• Manages overall site safety through training and observation of workforce. Ensures that all safety policies and procedures are being met.
• Fosters a productive team and promotes a positive work environment.
• Oversees product quality and the overall efficiency of the production plan. This includes achieving production targets while staying within budget.
• Responsible for developing maintenance plan, which includes scheduled outages, routine and preventative maintenance, and unplanned downtime.
• Maintains accurate records through daily production reports, inventory, and critical supplies.
• Leads coworkers and workforce through the employment lifecycle. This includes hiring, promotions, position changes, time approval, etc.
• Facilitates daily toolbox talks, JHA meetings, and pre-shift huddles.
• Assists MSHA and DEP inspectors with site inspections.
• Works closely with sales and other lines of business to ensure quality product and availability.
• Maintains an orderly appearance of facility and leads 5S initiatives.
• Maintains positive relations with site neighbors.

Requirements - Who Are We Looking For?

• Associates Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or relevant discipline preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, including, but not limited to surface aggregate mining, processing and maintenance.
• Proven knowledge of drilling and blasting as well as site development.
• MSHA Part 46 or 48 certification.
• Ability to operate and train others on heavy equipment and heavy equipment maintenance.
• Must have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Must possess strong attention to detail, good organizational skills with the ability to ensure accurate work.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Valid Driver’s License and compliant with NESL Driving Standards.
