Job summary

NESL is seeking a Quarry Superintendent to base in Nazareth, PA. The role oversees daily operations of crushing plants and mobile equipment, and supervises plant forepersons and production staff to maximize performance and profitability.

You will lead safety initiatives, drive maintenance planning, ensure product quality and maintain records, while fostering a productive team environment and strong external relationships.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of general mine/quarry experience.
• First-hand practical experience in quarry operations including blasting, drilling and de-watering.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment and knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance.
• Capable of building professional relationships with leaders and external networks.
• Excellent customer service and ability to collaborate across the business.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of crushing plants and mobile equipment.
• Manage site safety through training and observation of workforce.
• Ensure production targets are met within budget and maintain product quality.
• Develop and oversee maintenance plans including outages and downtime.
• Maintain production records, inventory and critical supplies.
• Lead and coach plant foreperson and production coworkers.
• Facilitate toolbox talks, JHA meetings and pre-shift huddles.
• Assist inspectors with site inspections.
• Collaborate with sales and other lines of business to ensure product availability.

Job description

We are seeking a Quarry Superintendent to be based in Nazareth, PA. The primary responsibility of the Quarry Superintendent is to oversee the daily operations of crushing plants and mobile equipment in an effort to maintain consistent and maximum performance, production and profitability. The Quarry Superintendent has supervisory responsibilities over plant foreperson and production coworkers.

Quarry Superintendent - What Will You Do?

• Manages overall site safety through training and observation of workforce. Ensures that all safety policies and procedures are being met.
• Fosters a productive team and promotes a positive work environment.
• Oversees product quality and the overall efficiency of the production plan. This includes achieving production targets while staying within budget.
• Responsible for developing maintenance plan, which includes scheduled outages, routine and preventative maintenance, and unplanned downtime.
• Maintains accurate records through daily production reports, inventory, and critical supplies.
• Leads coworkers and workforce through the employment lifecycle. This includes hiring, promotions, position changes, time approval, etc.
• Facilitates daily toolbox talks, JHA meetings, and pre-shift huddles.
• Assists MSHA and DEP inspectors with site inspections.
• Works closely with sales and other lines of business to ensure quality product and availability.
• Maintains an orderly appearance of facility and leads 5S initiatives.
• Maintains positive relations with site neighbors.
