Job summary

Peckham Industries, Inc. is seeking a Yard Person / Plant Operator to support safe and efficient quarry production in Vermont.

The role blends plant operations, heavy equipment use, haul truck work, and routine maintenance with ground-person duties to keep processes flowing and product quality high. You will operate and monitor crushers, screens, conveyors, feeders, and material-handling systems, and manage material flow while performing preventive maintenance and minor repairs.

Qualifications

Two (2) or more years in quarry/mining/industrial plant or similar production environment.
Demonstrated welding and fabrication skills with safe use of shop tools.
Experience with preventive maintenance and repairs on crushers, screens, conveyors, pumps, and related equipment.
Experience operating mobile equipment such as loaders, haul trucks, and excavators.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and maintain documentation.
High school diploma or GED; valid driver’s license; authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

Safely operate quarry processing equipment including crushers, screens, conveyors, feeders, and haul trucks; follow site safety requirements.
Operate and monitor crushing, screening, conveying, and material-handling processes to support production and product quality.
Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and component changes on plant equipment.
Conduct inspections and document obligations; report hazards and maintenance needs promptly.
Perform ground-handling duties, housekeeping, and material removal to maintain safe work areas.
Load customer and company vehicles; assist customers and drivers, and support safe traffic flow.
Identify practical safety, reliability, and productivity improvements with maintenance teams.
