Job summary

Riverlane in College Park, MD is seeking a Quantum Scientist for Government Programs (QEC) to advance quantum error correction research with US government agencies and national laboratories. You will run simulations, analyze data, and translate findings into program deliverables.

The role involves collaboration with partners across the US, travel as needed, and contributing to technical reports, proposals, and external-facing activities. A PhD and strong communications are required.

Qualifications

• PhD in physics, experimental physics, mathematics, CS, engineering, or related field.
• Research experience in quantum computing, gained in academia or industry.
• Experience designing, running and analyzing experiments or simulations using research-grade tools.
• Interest in quantum error correction and applying research in real-world settings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting technical work.
• Ability to collaborate with partners and external stakeholders in a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Contribute hands-on research to government-funded programs in quantum error correction, including simulation, data analysis and performance evaluation.
• Support delivery against program milestones, including technical reports and updates for government sponsors.
• Design and execute quantum computing experiments with partners using Riverlane's software and hardware.
• Support deployment of quantum applications and QEC-related solutions into partner environments.
• Investigate experimental results, diagnose issues, and coordinate with internal teams to resolve them.
• Contribute to funding proposals with technical content.
• Present results at partner meetings, workshops and conferences.
• Contribute to internal research projects related to quantum computing and QEC.
