Job summary

IBM Quantum is seeking motivated computer science students for a Co-Op internship to learn and develop the world’s first large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computer. You will join a distributed runtime software environment for executing programs on next‑gen quantum systems.

You will evaluate HPC tools, build data collection and analysis automation, and debug in a prototype distributed control system. Collaboration with compiler, system modeling, and FPGA teams is expected.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD in CS, CE, or related field.
  • Experience with Rust, C/C++, Git, Linux, and CLI environments.
  • Familiarity with container environments such as Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes.
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and integrate HPC tools into the distributed runtime environment.
  • Develop software and automation tools for data collection and analysis.
  • Debug program execution in a prototype distributed control system test environment.
  • Collaborate with compiler, system modeling, and FPGA teams.
