Job summary

Infleqtion, Inc. is seeking an Opto‑mechanical Engineer to realize precision opto‑mechanical subsystems for scalable quantum hardware. You will work with physicists and engineers in a lab setting, contributing from early demonstrations to integrated systems.

You’ll design components for lasers, optics, vacuum modules, and detectors, and ensure manufacturability while documenting rigorously and maintaining experiments across the full hardware lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in optical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with optical alignment and laboratory work.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks for component design.
• Strong experimental rigor and documentation habits.
• Desire to learn basic Zemax (OpticsStudio).

Responsibilities

• Develop opto‑mechanical subsystems and identify technical risks, trade‑offs and constraints.
• Design components for optical integration of precision lasers, optics, vacuum modules, and sensors.
• Collaborate across physics, mechanical, electrical, software, and systems teams through the hardware lifecycle.
• Incorporate design‑for‑manufacturing/assembly early and perform root‑cause investigations.
• Use simulations and experiments to characterize stability, drift, noise, and scaling limits.
• Support transition from research configurations to repeatable, scalable hardware for higher atom counts.
• Advance optical design workflows, lab procedures, documentation, and version control.
