Job summary

Infleqtion, Inc. in Boulder, CO, seeks an Opto-mechanical Engineer to realize precision subsystems for scalable quantum hardware. You will work with physicists and cross-disciplinary teams across the hardware development lifecycle.

The role emphasizes design-for-manufacture, hands-on prototyping, and rigorous documentation, with simulations and experiments to validate stability and performance, supporting a transition to production-ready systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in optical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with optical alignment and laboratory work.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks for component design.
  • Strong experimental rigor and documentation habits.
  • Desire to learn Zemax (OpticsStudio).

Responsibilities

  • Work on opto-mechanical subsystems and support identification and escalation of risks, trade-offs and constraints.
  • Design components for opto-mechanical integration of precision components and assemblies for lasers, optics, sensors, and detectors.
  • Collaborate with physicists and engineers across optical, mechanical, electrical, software and systems domains through development lifecycle.
  • Adhere to design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly early in product lifecycle; perform root-cause investigations.
  • Use high-fidelity simulations and experiments to characterize stability, drift, noise, and scaling limits with FEA.
  • Support transition of subsystems from research-grade to repeatable, scalable hardware.
  • Advance best practices for optical design workflows, lab procedures, documentation, and version control.
