Job summary

Infleqtion in Boulder, CO seeks an Optical Engineer to design, build, and validate complex optical subsystems for neutral-atom quantum computing platforms. This role emphasizes hands-on lab work and close collaboration with physicists and cross-disciplinary teams.

You will model optical performance in Zemax, perform alignment and testing, and document procedures while supporting workflow improvements. A strong experimental mindset and willingness to learn SolidWorks are valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in optical engineering, physics, or related field.
  • Hands-on optical alignment and laboratory measurements.
  • Familiarity with Zemax (OpticStudio) for optical design.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and aligning optical subsystems for neutral-atom experiments and hardware platforms.
  • Developing and maintaining high-fidelity optical models using Zemax, including tolerance analysis.
  • Performing optical assembly, alignment, testing, troubleshooting, and characterization of complex multi-channel systems.
  • Collaborating with physicists and engineers to integrate optical systems into experimental platforms.
  • Documenting designs, test results, and procedures.
  • Supporting improvements to optical design workflows and documentation.
