Job summary

The University of Chicago invites applications for a Quantum Network Manager to launch and support the Midwest Quantum Network Facility, overseeing hardware and software experiments and coordinating with partner institutions. The role emphasizes telecommunications, programming, project management, field deployments, and customer relations.

Qualified candidates will have extensive experience with quantum networking concepts, Python and C/C++, and strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
• 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.
• Experience with classical or quantum networks is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees launch and maintenance of the Midwest Quantum Network Facility.
• Leads expansion to deploy and integrate additional quantum nodes.
• Represents the facility in engagements with external stakeholders.
• Interfaces with IT and facilities to meet strategic goals.
• Works with CQE to distill milestones into actionable narratives.
• Develops secure networking technologies with partnering orgs.
• Deploys quantum networking hardware and fiber infrastructure.
• Reports on site readiness, risk analysis, and planning.
