Job summary

Atom Computing in Boulder, CO seeks a mid-level Project Engineer to support operation and upgrades of existing neutral atom quantum computing hardware and a portfolio of research projects advancing the roadmap. You will own schedules, coordinate across physics, optics, software, and hardware teams, and help track risk and progress.

The role requires 1+ years in product/systems engineering within deep-tech settings, strong communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in engineering, physics, optics, or a related field.
• 1+ years’ experience in product engineering, systems engineering, quantum, and/or R&D project management at multi-disciplinary, deep-tech companies.
• Experience operating autonomously across cross-functional teams with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Expertise in project organization, multi-tasking, and tracking complex hardware deliverables.
• Track record of proposing continuous process improvements without compromising design or schedule.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own detailed design, build, and integration schedule, coordinating with program management to ensure on-time milestone completion.
• Facilitate cross-functional technical alignment across physics, optics, software, systems, and hardware engineering teams to drive trapped-neutral-atom computer build and integration milestones.
• Manage program tracking frameworks—including risk registers, rolling action item logs, and review cadences to identify bottlenecks and mitigate delays early.
• Capture and document lessons learned throughout hardware integration and testing phases to refine future scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow processes.
