Job summary

IonQ in College Park, MD is seeking a Resilience Engineering & Operations Director, US East, to lead a team of Operating Physicists and ensure reliable, high-performing hosted quantum systems.

You will shape operating processes, incident handling and long-term improvements while coordinating with Europe for follow-the-sun support and building clear ownership in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of technical leadership and people management in operational or engineering settings.
• Strong background in reliability/resilience engineering and incident management.
• Excellent communication, judgment and ability to balance time, cost, quality, and risk.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day fleet support, incident response, and operational readiness for IonQ's hosted quantum systems.
• Drive continuous improvement, deployment support and reliability initiatives across the College Park fleet.
• Define and track team metrics, build clear ownership, and manage priorities and schedules.
• Collaborate with engineers, physicists and leaders to influence future designs and tooling.
