Job summary

American University invites applications for Quantitative Tutoring roles for the fall 2026 semester. Tutors will provide quantitative tutoring and statistical software support to peers in MATH-155 through STAT-302/320, with emphasis on calculus background requirements.

Positions are part-time, up to ~10 hours per week, $18.40–$22.50 per hour, and available only to enrolled AU students. Training and university resources support student success in mathematics, statistics, data science, and related

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in mathematics, statistics, data science, or other quantitative courses for Fall 2026.
  • Strong academic performance in relevant coursework and/or statistical software.
  • Experience collaborating with peers and helping others succeed.
  • Faculty letter of recommendation.

Responsibilities

  • Arrive on time for shifts.
  • Greet students at the Tutoring Lab or Online Software Support sessions.
  • For in‑person tutoring, assist AU students with quantitative concepts and related exams.
  • Remind students to submit a tutoring evaluation and follow lab procedures.
  • For Software Support, guide students in using AU‑supported statistical software.
  • Encourage submission of tutoring evaluations and maintain shift coverage.
  • Submit biweekly timesheets and promote the Quantitative Tutoring Lab at events.
