Job summary

Rainmaker is seeking a Quantitative Meteorologist to bridge atmospheric science, statistics, and operations. You will develop repeatable analyses and tools to identify when cloud-seeding works best, evaluate completed operations, and improve forecast workflows used by flight and field teams.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in meteorology or related field.
• Strong Python and scientific computing experience.
• Experience applying statistics to environmental data.
• Ability to translate complex science into measurable problems.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop quantitative methods for identifying, scoring, and ranking cloud-seeding opportunities.
• Analyze historical and real-time meteorological data to understand conditions and outcomes.
• Design observational studies, experiments, and analyses to separate intervention effects from natural variability.
• Establish honest uncertainty bounds and communicate when evidence is inconclusive.
• Build reusable tools for evaluating cloud-seeding programs and related metrics.
• Collaborate with software engineers to automate forecasting and nowcasting workflows.
