Rainmaker is seeking a Quantitative Meteorologist to bridge atmospheric science with operational decision-making. You will develop methods to identify cloud-seeding opportunities, analyze data, and build repeatable analyses and tools for program design and evaluation.

You will own ambiguous questions spanning science, operations, and business, delivering defensible measurements and scalable workflows with meteorological validity.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in meteorology or related quantitative field.
• Strong background in cloud and precipitation processes and NWP.
• Experience applying statistics to noisy environmental data.
• Proficiency in Python and scientific-computing libraries.
• Experience with meteorological data formats like GRIB/NetCDF.

Responsibilities

• Develop quantitative methods to identify, score, and rank cloud-seeding opportunities.
• Analyze historical and real-time meteorological data to understand conditions for successful targeting.
• Design studies and analyses to distinguish intervention effects from natural variability.
• Establish uncertainty bounds and communicate when evidence is inconclusive.
• Build reusable tools for evaluating programs including climatology and targetability.
• Collaborate with software engineers to automate forecasting workflows.
