Despite the title, this is a business-facing investment analyst role, not a data engineering position.

This role sits inside a quantitative investment environment and focuses on understanding investment workflows, data flows, and business requirements, then translating them into clear specifications, analytics, and prototypes for engineering and quant teams.

If you enjoy working close to investments, asking “why,” and shaping solutions, this role fits.
If you’re looking to build pipelines or production systems end-to-end, it won’t.

What you’ll actually do

• Act as the business analyst between investment teams, quants, and engineers
• Deeply understand investment and private markets data
• Use SQL (and some Python) to query, validate, and analyse data — not to build platforms
• Translate business questions into clear requirements, designs, and test cases
• Support onboarding of new datasets and resolve data quality issues
• Help shape analytics and tooling used in investment decision-making

This role is a strong fit if you:

• Come from asset management, private equity, investment management, or banking
• Have worked as a Business Analyst, Product Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, or similar
• Are data-literate (SQL comfortable, Python helpful) but business-driven
