Bayer AG in Missouri is seeking a Quantitative Genetics Co-op to conduct discovery research using data science, genomics, and quantitative genetics to improve breeding workflows, data packages, and prescriptions for Product Design.

You will apply population genetics methods to design germplasm cohorts from crossing through to Product Development, while supporting Precision Breeding innovations and collaborating across R&D teams.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a PhD program with experience in developing population and quantitative genetics methods for routine use in breeding programs.
• Experience collaborating in cross‑functional and cross‑cultural teams to achieve common goals.
• Strong data analysis skills with large biological datasets is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct quantitative genetics discovery research projects to improve workflows, high-quality lines, robust data packages, and actionable prescriptions.
• Apply innovations in data science, genomics, quantitative genetics, computational biology, bioinformatics, and advanced modeling to support Product Design objectives.
• Execute population and quantitative genetics strategy to design improved germplasm cohorts from crossing through handoff to Product Development.
• Support Quantitative genetics projects implementing Precision Breeding innovations in Product Design.
• Contribute to breeding program design, genetic evaluation, and data acquisition optimization.
• Identify opportunities for new technology implementation and process improvement in quantitative genetics workflows.
• Promote a collaborative, innovative culture within Product Design and broader R&D, and uphold HSE policies.
