Job summary

CSS, Inc. seeks a Quantitative Ecologist in Miami, FL to provide quantitative ecology support to the Marine Mammal & Turtle Division of SEFSC.

You will manage data and apply statistical models or simulations to address complex scientific problems and design projects with documented workflows in accessible tools. Responsibilities include developing analytical approaches for marine mammal ecology, fieldwork as needed, collaborating with NOAA colleagues, and reporting results in technical reports

Qualifications

  • MS or higher in Marine Science, Biology, Oceanography, Ecology, Statistics, or related field.
  • BS in Marine Science or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience also acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop analytical approaches for marine mammal spatial/behavioral ecology aligned with MMTD priorities.
  • Evaluate animal movement, habitat ecology, and species abundance with spatial models.
  • Design data collection plans and manage data workflows.
  • Collaborate within NOAA on integrating data streams.
  • Prepare technical reports and disseminate results via publications and presentations.
