Job summary

ENGIE North America is seeking a Quantitative Analyst II to join the Asset Backed Trading team in the United States. You will analyze pricing trends, develop trading insights, and build models to maximize value across renewable, storage, and retail assets.

You will collaborate with traders and quantitative professionals, focusing on forecasting, deal pricing, and risk management while promoting coding standards and robust analysis. The role offers hybrid work with a minimum in-office presence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years in quantitative analysis or related analytics.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or R.
  • Experience with data science techniques to solve business problems.
  • Experience querying relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
  • Ability to analyze large datasets and communicate findings.
  • Experience with collaborative software development using Git.

Job description

ENGIE Supply & Energy Management (SEM) is responsible for designing and managing energy procurement and risk strategies that optimize cost, limit volatility, and enhance value for the Company and its clients. Within SEM, the Asset Backed Trading (ABT) group is responsible for pricing and managing risks associated with power generation and retail businesses across the United States. As a Quantitative Analyst II, you will help maximize the value of ENGIE's portfolio of renewable, battery, thermal generation, and retail supply assets through quantitative analysis, forecasting, deal valuation, trading strategy development, and risk management.

This is a unique opportunity to join a growing Asset Backed Trading team that is helping build and expand ENGIE's asset-backed trading business in the United States. You will work alongside experienced traders and quantitative professionals, contributing to a business that optimizes, hedges, and creates value from generation assets and customer portfolios. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to make an impact from day one while developing skills that can lead to future trading and commercial opportunities within the organization.

In this role, you will:

  • Analyze pricing trends and perform fundamental power market analysis to support trading and risk management decisions.
  • Develop quantitative insights and trade recommendations that help optimize the performance of the Asset Backed Trading portfolio.
  • Reconcile and explain portfolio P&L results while ensuring positions and financial outcomes are accurately represented and understood.
  • Build and enhance trading strategies that improve value creation across renewable, battery, thermal generation, and retail supply portfolios.
  • Enhance deal pricing frameworks to better align financial models with underlying physical and market realities.
  • Collaborate on short-term and long-term power market forecasts and evaluate renewable generation forecasting accuracy.
  • Support the development of new structured and traded products by partnering with traders and commercial stakeholders.
  • Develop reporting and analytical frameworks that improve visibility into portfolio risk, positions, and profitability.
  • Promote coding standards, analytical rigor, and best practices across quantitative modeling activities.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in which you completed courses in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, Computer Science, Physics, Finance, or another quantitative discipline; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in quantitative analysis, analytics, financial modeling, market analysis, risk analysis, trading analytics, or a related analytical function.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or R required.
  • Experience applying data science, statistical techniques, and quantitative methodologies to solve business problems.
  • Experience developing analytical tools, quantitative models, or automated reporting solutions.
  • Experience querying and working with relational databases such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
  • Ability to solve complex and ambiguous problems through the use of quantitative analysis, data, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to analyze large datasets, identify meaningful trends, and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience contributing to collaborative software development environments utilizing Git, code reviews, or similar development practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, intellectual agility, and a desire to continuously learn and develop.
  • Exposure to power markets, energy trading, renewables, battery storage, retail energy, or related energy industries is beneficial; however, strong quantitative and problem-solving skills are the primary requirements for success in this role
  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy; a minimum of 3 days working in the office per week is required
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies;
Compensation

Salary Range: $77,100 – $118,220 USD annually

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
