Job summary

Austal USA in Mobile, AL is seeking a Quality Inspections Supervisor / Quality Inspection Foreman to lead weld inspections and ensure compliance with MDD-00948 VT Structure, training requirements, and contract acceptance criteria. You will guide production QC, coordinate with customers, and maintain certification through ongoing audits.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in welding/inspection, be able to read drawings, and hold VT Structure certification within 3 months.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years welding, industrial, or inspection experience.
• MDD-00948 VT Structure certification within 3 months of employment.
• Must pass background check and EB badge approval.
• Maintain certification; suspension triggers review and action.
• Ability to perform basic math and read drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform VT inspections on completed welds per written procedures.
• Use inspection tools to verify tolerances are within procedures.
• Interpret drawings for joint information and part locations.
• Consult with internal/external customers as needed.
• Provide guidance for workmanship corrections with production teams.
• Document acceptance/rejection per contract criteria; log kick codes as needed.
• Maintain training qualifications in Cornerstone and PQS.
• Assist with training and adapt to new NDT methods.
