Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Quality/Test Engineer 3 in Mossville, IL. The work will be 100% onsite, first shift. This is a 12-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $42/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).

Job Summary

The Quality/Test Engineer 3 will support the validation of collision mitigation and machine safety systems used in heavy equipment applications. This role focuses on planning and executing software/system validation, reviewing requirements, developing test plans and test cases, troubleshooting integration issues, analyzing test data and logs, and documenting validation results. The engineer will work closely with software, systems, hardware, and validation teams on technologies involving embedded controls, sensors, and machine integration.

Key Responsibilities

• Review software and system requirements and develop or update validation test plans and test cases.
• Execute bench and machine-level testing of embedded safety and collision mitigation features.
• Analyze test results, logs, and system data to identify defects and verify performance against requirements.
• Troubleshoot and perform root-cause analysis of hardware, software, and system integration issues.
• Document test procedures, results, defects, validation evidence, and release-readiness information while supporting issue resolution through closure.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in an electrical, electronics, computer, mechanical, or related discipline.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience; candidates with a Master’s degree plus 4 years of experience may also be considered. Relevant internship experience may count.
• Strong software/system validation experience, including test planning, test execution, results analysis, and requirements-based validation.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills involving hardware/software/system integration.
• Strong technical documentation skills, including test procedures, test reports, issue documentation, validation evidence, and release-support artifacts.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within large, cross-functional and global engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CAN/J1939 and Ethernet/TCP-IP.
• Experience working with embedded controllers and sensors, including radar, cameras, GPS, and IMUs.
• Experience with HIL and/or bench testing.
• Experience with Azure DevOps or similar engineering workflow tools.
• Basic scripting experience, particularly Python.
• Previous experience with embedded systems, machine controls, heavy equipment, automotive, off-highway, or other safety-critical systems.
