The Hardware Quality/Test Engineer Role

The Quality, Testing, and Compliance Engineer will test Darkhive’s products to ensure functionality and compliance with requirements outlined in the statement of work. This role focuses on hardware testing; software testing engineers are not sought at this time.

Job Responsibilities Include

  1. Testing all hardware aspects: function/component, system, performance, regression, regulatory compliance, and service.
  2. Collaborating with hardware development to identify and document test cases, manage versions.
  3. Setting up test environments, designing and executing test plans and scenarios.
  4. Analyzing test results, providing usability feedback, and reporting risks and suggestions to stakeholders.
  5. Preparing prototypes of components and systems to meet specifications.
  6. Building test fixtures to simulate real-world conditions efficiently.
  7. Supporting verification and validation testing in pilot and production environments, documenting results.
  8. Maintaining communication with supervisors and stakeholders on project status and issues.
  9. Ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards (FCC, FAA, Quality Systems, safety, etc.).
  10. Coordinating with labs for product certification.

This position is on-site in San Antonio, Texas, reporting to the Director of Hardware. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field.
  • 5-7+ years supporting manufacturing of electronic or electromechanical products.
  • Proficiency in test development, hardware/software troubleshooting, and understanding industry standards.
  • Ability to read/write technical documentation, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in engineering.
  • U.S. Military Veteran.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Sitting/standing for periods, lifting up to 15 lbs, using equipment, maintaining awareness.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
