Job summary

Velcro USA Inc. is seeking a Quality Technician I to perform and document laboratory testing of raw materials and finished products. You will maintain test data accuracy, communicate results and nonconformances, and support timely product release.

You will manage testing schedules, prepare releases, and enter data into databases while following safety rules under the supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor. The role emphasizes on-site work and hands-on testing in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior QC laboratory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
• Ability to learn and effectively use Oracle, ETQ, and Test Suite data acquisition systems.
• Ability to read and interpret written instructions and perform accurate data entry.

Responsibilities

• Perform test procedures per QC Laboratory Manual and customer methods.
• Document test results and issue releases based on verified data.
• Enter test data into databases and maintain accurate records.
• Identify and communicate test abnormalities and maintenance issues to supervisors.
• Maintain safety and 5S housekeeping in the lab.

Job Objective

The Quality Technician I performs and documents laboratory testing of raw materials and finished products in accordance with approved internal and customer methods and specifications. The role maintains accurate test data and records and promptly communicates results, abnormalities, and nonconformances to support timely and compliant product release.

Essential Job Functions

• Perform test procedures in accordance with the Quality Control Laboratory Manual, customer-specific methods, and additional procedures as directed by the Laboratory Supervisor.
• Make and document determinations regarding test variations and/or abnormalities, and report findings to the Laboratory Supervisor in a timely manner.
• Manage the day-to-day testing schedule to ensure priorities and deadlines are met.
• Document test results using approved forms; prepare and issue releases and reports based on verified test data. Enter test data into the appropriate database(s), as required.
• Evaluate inspection nonconformances, document inspection results in the appropriate forms and/or data systems, and support resolution as needed.
• Comply with all safety requirements outlined in the Chemical Hygiene Plan for QC laboratories and associated work areas.
• Participate in periodic reviews of work and process procedures to confirm documentation accurately reflects current practice.
• Assist with training and onboarding of additional technicians, as assigned.
• Identify and promptly communicate any test abnormalities and any maintenance and calibration issues to the Laboratory Supervisor.
• Maintain required records in accordance with retention and storage requirements.
• Participate in laboratory equipment cleaning activities consistent with 5S methodology.
• Work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate strong personal accountability.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior quality control laboratory experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
• Ability to learn and effectively use Microsoft Access, Oracle, ETQ (Document Control and Nonconforming Material modules), and Test Suite data acquisition systems.
• Ability to learn and operate applicable test equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret written instructions, execute detailed test procedures, and perform accurate data entry.
• Ability to meet or exceed established performance standards, which will be reviewed periodically.
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
• Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance on-site.
• Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills preferred.
