Job summary

Carlex Glass America, LLC is seeking a lab-based windshield tester to collect and cut windshields for test samples, prepare specimens, and perform a range of quality tests. The role requires familiarity with tempered glass standards and the ability to follow test specifications, with testing for European and Asian market parts as needed.

Candidate should have 1+ years of lab testing experience, and be able to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays, in a safety-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of related lab-based testing experience.
• Glass industry experience preferred, but not required.
• Proven knowledge of ANSI European and Asian Market Standards.

Responsibilities

• Collect windshield samples.
• Cut windshields to create test samples.
• Prepare samples for specific tests.
• Conduct body glass fragmentation tests.
• Test water softener system for each windshield line.
• Conduct Distortion, Moisture, Pummel, Light Transmission, Boil testing, Ball Drop testing, Opacity testing analysis for all windshield parts.
• Conduct Robustness testing as needed or required.
• Conduct follow up testing as required for non-compliant product.
• Additional testing for the European and Asian Market parts.

• Intermediate experience with Microsoft Suite (Word & Excel)
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and limited direction
• Ability to compile and compose reports for internal and external purposes
• Ability to understand tempered glass and Windshield standards
• Familiarity with reading & executing test specifications
• Adept at summarizing data and revealing key trends
• Detail oriented, able to maintain test logs/results/data

• Must be able to work an alternative work schedule to include 12-hour shifts
• Work beyond the traditional 40 hours per week may be required as workload or projects dictate, including weekends and holidays
