Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking an inspector to perform dimensional inspections on components on site. You will use precision tools and FARO Arm equipment to verify tolerance conformity against engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.

You will document results, support first article and in-process inspections, and collaborate with quality, engineering, and manufacturing teams to drive conformance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred in metrology or quality.
• Experience performing dimensional inspection in manufacturing or quality environment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications and tolerances.
• Basic GD&T understanding and use of precision inspection tools.

Where is the work: On-Site (5 days)

Key Responsibilities

• Perform inspection of components using standard inspection tools and FARO Arm equipment.
• Verify component dimensions and geometric features against engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerance requirements.
• Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, indicators, and related inspection tools.
• Operate FARO Arm equipment to measure, inspect, and validate part conformance.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirements to ensure accurate inspection results.
• Document measurement and inspection results accurately and maintain complete quality records.
• Assist with first article, in-process, and final inspection activities as required.
• Collaborate with quality, engineering, and manufacturing teams to support product conformance and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical training, certificate, or associate degree in metrology, quality, manufacturing, machining, or a related field preferred.
• Experience performing dimensional inspection in a manufacturing or quality environment.
• Hands‑on experience using precision inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, and height gages.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and tolerances.
• Basic understanding of GD&T and dimensional inspection methods.
• Good communication and teamwork skills to support collaboration across quality, engineering, and production.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in Quality, Metrology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience working in a manufacturing, laboratory, or regulated quality environment.
• Familiarity with GD&T and statistical process control concepts.
• Experience using CMMs, optical measurement systems, or other advanced metrology equipment.
• Knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001 or similar standards.
• Experience with calibration database software or asset tracking systems.
• Understanding of measurement traceability and control of nonconforming equipment.
• Certification related to quality or metrology, such as ASQ or calibration-related credentials.

Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range
