Job summary

MEC (Mayville Engineering Company, Inc.) in Wisconsin seeks a quality support specialist to perform tests and inspections at various production stages, interpreting drawings and standards to ensure conformance.

You will record data, support calibration, conduct destructive and nondestructive tests, and assist MRB, gage R&R, and ISO audits under leadership of the quality team.

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and standards for inspection.
• Experience with measurement methods and quality testing across production.
• Familiarity with MRB processes and ISO audits.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings, schematics, or standards to test product conformance.
• Record test data and apply SPC where applicable.
• Document reports for deviations from standards.
• Calibrate tools and gages as required.
• Set up and perform destructive and nondestructive tests.
• Operate measurement equipment (CMM, profilometer, hardness tester, optical comparators).
• Lead or support gage R&R and measurement system analysis.

Job description

As an employee at MEC, you will provide support to manufacturing operations or Quality Engineering by tests and / or inspection of products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates collected data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or standards in order to inspect or test product throughout the manufacturing processes to determine if it is fit for conformance or customer requirements. This can include dimensional, attribute, performance, mechanical or chemical characteristics.
• Records test data, applying statistical process control procedures where applicable.
• Document reports to validate or identify details for deviations from existing standards, where and when required.
• Support calibration of tools and gages as required.
• Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
• Operates various types of measurement equipment required to evaluate product conformance (i.e. various coordinate measuring machines, profilometer, hardness tester, optical comparators, various gages (calipers, micrometers, protractors, etc.)
• Leads and/or supports gage R&R or related measurement system analysis activities as required.
• Coordinate activities related to Material Review Board (MRB) or supports as directed.Leads containment activities and/or supports sorting activities as requested for external or internal sorts as directed by the quality department leadership.
• Leads or supports audits as requested by quality department. This includes but not limited to various ISO audits as well as product audits at various stages of the manufacturing process.
