Job summary

Redwood Materials Inc. is seeking a Quality Technician, Energy Storage to join our manufacturing team.

You will oversee incoming, process, and customer-facing quality activities, identify issues, and drive root cause analysis to support rapid improvements on the production floor. You will collaborate with production and engineering to ensure specifications are defined and met, manage non-conforming material, and support PFMEA and Control Plan initiatives while working to ensure safety, quality,

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification or equivalent hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or related fields.
  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing environments in technician/engineering tech roles.
  • Strong safety discipline (LOTO, PPE, safe work practices).
  • Experience transitioning operations from development to high-volume manufacturing.
  • Experience with development and use of quality tools and quality system elements.
  • Exposure to quality systems and international standards.
  • Adept with process data acquisition and quality analysis tools.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with engineers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections, audits, and testing to evaluate product and process performance.
  • Drive root cause investigations for product, in-process, and incoming quality issues.
  • Collect and analyze product and process data with engineering teams to ensure specifications are met.
  • Support the control and disposition of non-conforming material.
  • Assist with PFMEA and Control Plan activities to mitigate manufacturing risks.
  • Analyze production data using quality tools to identify non-conforming or at-risk material.
  • Provide sampling support for in-process and finished product as required.
  • Support management of change initiatives across the organization.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to validate new product designs, equipment, and processes.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to meet safety, quality, and production goals.
  • Perform rework on non-conforming material to recover final yield.

Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recyclingkeeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2017,we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.

Quality Technician, Energy Storage

Redwood is looking for a highly motivated Quality Technician with broad experience across incoming quality, process quality, and customer-facing quality activities. The Quality Technician will be responsible for identifying quality issues across the manufacturing environment, supporting investigations and root cause analysis, collecting relevant process and product data, and managing non-conforming material. This person will work closely with production and engineering teams to maintain rapid response and drive continuous improvements to the production process.

The ideal candidate brings a self-starting mindset with a strong drive to solve complex problems, along with a get-it-done attitude, willing to jump in, take end-to-end ownership, and do what is needed to support the team.

Hours:

Full-time, Monday–Friday (initial schedule). This role will transition to a 12-hour shift schedule: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Sunday–Tuesday (every other Wednesday) or6:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Thursday–Saturday (every other Wednesday)

Flexibility to support different shifts as the operation scales is required

  • Analyze production data using quality tools to identify potential non-conforming or at-risk materialProvide sampling support for in-process and finished product as required
  • Support management of change initiatives across the organization
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to validate new product designs, equipment, and processes
  • Work with cross-functional teams to meet safety, quality, and production goals
  • Perform rework on non-conforming material to recover final yield

Desired Qualifications:

  • Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or related fields
  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing environments (technician, engineering tech, or similar role)
  • Strong safety discipline (LOTO, PPE, safe work practices)
  • Experience in transitioning operations from development to high-volume manufacturing
  • Experience with the development and use of quality tools as well as other quality system elements
  • Previous exposure to quality systems and international standards
  • Adept with process data acquisition and quality analysis tools
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; able to work effectively with engineers and stakeholders across levels

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and performing repetitive motions

Working Conditions:

  • Indoor production environment with typical exposure to noise, machinery, and industrial conditions

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
