Job summary

FM Industries in Livermore, CA is seeking a Quality Technician for the day shift (7:00 AM to 3:30 PM) to perform quality control and assurance, including visual and dimensional inspections per SOPs and to support data collection (SPC, GR&R, POR) and metric reporting.

You will work with engineers, operate precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gages), prepare Customer First Article Reports, and help maintain inspection records.

Qualifications

• Requires 2- or 4-year degree in technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years in Quality Control or Quality Assurance in manufacturing preferred.
• Knowledge of GD&T and ability to read engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with precision measurement equipment and data collection methods.
• Good communication and teamwork skills; ERP experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Focus on accuracy and detail to meet company quality standards.
• Prepare, publish and submit Customer First Article Reports.
• Complete regular Quality Operation Metric Reports to management for review.
• Complete AQL sampling or 100% inspection and maintain complete inspection reports.
• Utilize measuring equipment to measure and collect data for component acceptance.
• Generate Nonconformance or Discrepant Material Reports for nonconforming material control.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for performing various functions associated with quality control and quality assurance operations, including visual and dimensional inspections as defined by our Standard Operating Procedures required for the preparation of customer first article, cost of quality and related quality operations metrics. Make use of sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate data to assist in assessing and documenting results of quality assurance and control processes (e.g. SPC, GR&R, and POR). Collect, synthesize and publish key quality operational metrics, (e.g. COPQ, QPPM, RMA, DMR, NC). May assist Quality or Manufacturing Engineering in developing methods and procedures for quality assurance and control. Works with engineers and other subject matter experts to conduct process assessments.

Qualifications:

• 2- or 4-year degree in technical discipline or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years in Quality Control or Quality Assurance related role, preferably in a manufacturing related industry
• Requires basic knowledge of knowledgeable in GD&T
• Requires basic knowledge to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Knowledge and use of precision testing equipment and tools (caliper, micrometer, pin gage, profilometer)
• Ability to communicate clearly at various levels of the organization, with suppliers and customers.
• Teamwork orientation is essential in this role
• Experience with ERP systems is a plus (Epicor, Vantage, Oracle, SAP)
