Qualifications

  • Five years of CMM/Layout experience using PC-DMIS.
  • Gage control, MSA, and gage design/use knowledge.
  • Tool calibration experience.
  • Minimum 7 years in manufacturing engineering or QA in automotive.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Experience with IATF standards and APQP requirements.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Access.
  • Understanding of GD&T.
  • Strong report writing and layout fixture design skills.
  • Ability to communicate with engineering and across levels.

Responsibilities

  • Layout of Annual Validations per customer and internal requirements.
  • Provide layout reports and analysis; support Engineering Drawings.
  • Lead outside layout services; organize, instruct, and coordinate layout as needed.
  • Gage calibrations: calibrate fixtures and gages; maintain records and calibration frequencies.
  • Ensure MSA activities are performed properly and filed.
  • Contribute to gage design for in-process inspection.
  • Train individuals/teams in gage use (hand held, electronic, CMM, optical).
  • Support plant production by ensuring supplier parts meet requirements.
  • Aim for high customer satisfaction; meet due dates and protect confidential information.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by Quality Manager.

Filtran in Des Plaines, IL is seeking a Quality Technician – CMM Programmer

This position is responsible for:


Dimensional inspection using CMM, Optical Comparator or other measurement equipment as needed


Gage Calibrations, gage design, MSA Studies and acts as the key resource in proper gage application


Training of Auditors in measurement technique/methods as well as a trainer in Gage application, use and care


Providing quality support to manufacturing operations, ensuring the components purchased from suppliers meet engineering requirements


Responsibilities

Principle Responsibilities

Responsible for the layout of Annual Validations, per customer and internal requirements. Responsible for internal layouts to support APQP / Prototype, Capability Studies, “Repeats” (layouts performed as a result of process Tweaking), “Drop In's (unexpected / unplanned layouts, often Urgent), and layouts to support Tooling or act as a tooling resource.


Responsible to provide layout reports and analysis and called upon as a resource to proof Engineering Drawings. Will provide a variety of metrics as determined by the Quality Coordinator.


Take the lead when outside layout services are necessary by organizing, instructing, and coordinating the layout required. Will provide these services prints, drawings and instruction. Responsible to ensure outside layout source capabilities and necessary certifications are available. Required to review final layout documentation and analysis and provide internal feedback where necessary.


Gage calibrations responsibility includes calibration of fixtures, new & old gages and to have a sound gage recall system. Responsible to confirm calibration of all purchased new gages. This can be done by document review / certification. Administrative duties include maintaining gage records, determining calibration frequencies, and to approve Outside sources of calibration and their schedule, documents, and certifications.


Responsible for ensuring MSA activities are performed properly, all reports and studies properly analyzed and filed.


Responsible as a key member in gage design for in process inspection and / or other internal gage needs. Gauge Design (production / inspection). Also contribute expertise in gage methods and use.


Act as facility trainer to train individuals / teams in gage use. Typical gages include: Hand Held, Electronic, CMM, Optical Comparator, and others.


Respond to, and fully support, company plant production by ensuring all supplier parts meet engineering requirements.


Results for this position will be measured by internal customer satisfaction.


Ensure commitments (due dates) are realized and high-priority customer-driven due dates are given utmost attention.


Ensure proprietary and confidential technical information is protected when communicating with customers and suppliers.


Other duties and projects completed as assigned by Quality Manager.

Five years experience in CMM / Layout activities using PC-DMIS software


Experience in Gage Control, MSA, Gage Design / Use principles


Experience in tool calibration


Minimum 7 years Manufacturing Engineering / Quality Assurance experience in the automotive industry.


Bachelors' Degree From An Accredited University - Required.


Experience With IATF Standards / APQP Requirements


Experience using Microsoft Software: Word, Excel, Access


Must understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)


Skilled in completing reports; Layout results, etc


Knowledge in outside calibration services (how, credentials, instructions, records)


Excellent Mechanical aptitude for thoughtful layout fixture design.


Ability to communicate with Engineering regarding assigned Projects


Excellent Blueprint Comprehension.


Ability to communicate with people from all levels.
