Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 3–5 years of mechanical inspection experience in precision environments.
  • Proficiency in GD&T per ANSI Y14.5 and CMM programming.
  • Experience with Zeiss CMMs and CMM software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality systems and audits.

Responsibilities

  • Advanced metrology using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and gauges.
  • Operate and program CMMs, including DCC-based systems; use CMM Manager optionally.
  • Interpret drawings and GD&T; manage tolerance stacks.
  • Plan inspections for first article, in-process, and final parts.
  • Maintain calibration systems and assist in quality audits and reviews.
  • Document non-conformances and support CAPA processes.
  • Utilize Epicor ERP for quality tracking and recordkeeping.

Job description

The Quality Control Inspector II/III is a senior-level inspection role responsible for verifying product quality through advanced inspection methods, CMM programming, and deep interpretation of engineering drawings and GD&T. This position performs receiving, in-process, and final inspections on machined and molded components across semiconductor, aerospace, and industrial applications. QC Inspector II/III also supports quality planning, corrective action processes, and procedure development in compliance with AS9100 and ISO standards. In addition to standard inspection duties, this role involves programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), maintaining calibration systems, and assisting in Quality System audits and reviews. Strong documentation, communication, and analytical skills are essential, along with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

This role requires daily on-site presence at our manufacturing facility in Phoenix, Arizona.

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):
  • Advanced Metrology – Skilled in the use of micrometers, calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, and advanced measurement tools
  • CMM Operation & Programming – Experience operating and programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), including DCC-based systems; familiarity with CMM Manager software (preferred)
  • Drawing Interpretation & GD&T – Deep understanding of engineering drawings, tolerance stacks, and geometric dimensioning per ANSI Y14.5
  • Inspection Planning – Ability to interpret quality requirements, develop inspection methods, and perform first article, in-process, and final inspections
  • Quality Systems – Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality standards, internal auditing, QMS documentation, and management review processes
  • Calibration Systems – Understanding of calibration schedules, traceability requirements, and proper handling of inspection equipment
  • Nonconformance Handling – Familiar with root cause analysis, deviation documentation, and participation in corrective and preventive action processes
  • Process – Use of Epicor ERP System for quality tracking
  • Proficient in manual inspection using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and height measurement tools
  • Skilled in operating and programming CMMs for dimensional verification of complex parts
  • Strong blueprint reading with expert-level GD&T interpretation and tolerance stack analysis
  • Able to conduct thorough first article, in-process, and final inspections with minimal oversight
  • Competent in generating and documenting non-conformances, deviations, and inspection reports
  • Effective written and verbal communication across departments, including Quality, Production, and Engineering
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); capable of maintaining digital inspection logs and audit documentation
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills to support traceability and compliance
  • Capable of working independently and leading by example in a collaborative team environment
Safety, Loss Prevention and Procedural Compliance:
  • Follows Company guidelines for managing confidential information, customer satisfaction and working with GTI personnel
  • Follow safety practices such as: washing hands, wearing any required PPE for the position
  • Ensures satisfactory maintenance, appearance and condition of assigned area to comply with security, safety and environmental codes and ordinances
  • Enforces compliance with all local, state, federal regulations and company policy pertaining to safety and loss prevention
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical inspection within a precision machining or molding environment (required)
  • Prior experience in semiconductor, aerospace, or engineered industrial manufacturing environments (preferred)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with GD&T per ANSI Y14.5, including tolerance interpretation and calculations
  • Hands-on experience operating and programming Zeiss Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs)
  • Familiarity with AS9100 and ISO 9001 Quality Management System
Certifications a plus:
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
  • ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE)
