$30 - $40 per hour | Chicago, IL | On-site | Permanent
We’re adding a hands‑on Quality Inspector / Quality Technician to validate finished quality across anodizing and wet paint (industrial coating) for aluminum parts, ensuring every shipment meets customer specs and our on‑time / right‑first‑time expectations.
We’re an ISO 9001:2015 certified aluminum finishing partner, featuring two full‑service anodizing lines along with warehousing, racking, packing, laser marking, testing, mechanical finishing, and robotic processes.
You’ll be part of a long‑standing, high‑capability aluminum finishing operation built for consistent quality and on‑time delivery, supported by robust anodizing capacity, dye options, testing, and advanced processing/automation.
Finish/Coating Inspection (Anodize + Wet Paint):
Perform in-process and final inspections for Type II/Type III anodized aluminum parts and wet paint coated components (industrial finishes).
Visually inspect for common finish defects (ex: color variation, burns, streaking, pitting, scratches, runs/sags, fisheyes, dry spray/orange peel, incomplete coverage, handling damage).
Verify finish characteristics to requirements (examples: coating thickness, color, cosmetic standards, masking/coverage, adhesion/cure indicators where applicable).
Documentation & ISO / Quality System Support:
Record inspection results, maintain inspection logs, and support traceability and shipment quality documentation aligned with ISO 9001:2015 practices.
Review travelers / routers / work instructions and confirm processing steps match customer and internal requirements.
Communicate nonconformances clearly, help contain issues, and elevate quality risks quickly to production leadership.
Production Partnership:
Work closely with anodizing, dye, racking, packing, and paint operations to prevent defects and improve first‑pass yield.
Support root‑cause troubleshooting by identifying defect patterns (what, where, frequency) and giving actionable feedback.
1+ year experience in quality inspection in manufacturing or coatings/finishing environment (anodizing/painting experience strongly valued).
Comfortable using basic inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and working from specs, travelers, and work instructions.
Strong attention to detail: can spot cosmetic defects and inconsistencies quickly and consistently.
Solid documentation habits (able to write clear inspection notes and maintain records).
Able to stand/walk in a production environment and handle parts safely.
Experience inspecting anodized aluminum (Type II/III) and/or industrial wet paint coatings.
Familiarity with customer‑driven finishing specifications (including military/automotive/architectural standards depending on account needs).
Understanding of ISO 9001 and NADCAP quality systems, nonconformance documentation, and corrective action support.
