Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Quality Technician for the 3rd shift in O'Fallon, IL. This hands-on role offers entry-level exposure to dairy product testing, safety programs, and QA processes in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

You will perform in-process and finished product testing, operate lab equipment, and document results while supporting daily laboratory activities. This position provides growth within the food quality field.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Food Science or related field.
  • Willingness to perform dairy product taste tests as part of quality evaluations.
  • Ability to work 3rd shift (Mon-Fri, 8:00 PM–4:00 AM).
  • Experience or exposure to dairy manufacturing QA is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and test in-process and finished product samples for quality and safety.
  • Perform analytical testing including pH, wet chemistry, and basic microbiology.
  • Operate lab equipment with proper pipetting techniques.
  • Document test results per SOPs and regulatory requirements.
  • Support daily lab activities and audit readiness within production facility.

What You'll Do

As a Quality Technician, you will help uphold the highest standards of product quality by:

  • Collecting and testing in-process and finished product samples to verify quality and food safety compliance.
  • Performing analytical testing including pH analysis, wet chemistry procedures, and basic microbiological testing.
  • Operating laboratory equipment and utilizing proper pipetting techniques to generate accurate and reliable results.
  • Recording and documenting test results in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assisting with daily laboratory activities to support efficient operations and workflow.
  • Participating in sensory and organoleptic (taste) evaluations of dairy products.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and audit-ready laboratory environment.
  • Following standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Conducting occasional environmental monitoring activities, including air sampling and quality checks within the production facility.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, or a related scientific field.
  • Basic laboratory knowledge, including sample handling, laboratory equipment, and testing procedures.
  • Previous laboratory, quality assurance, or food manufacturing experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Familiarity with microbiological testing and wet chemistry techniques.
  • Experience documenting data in electronic or paper-based quality systems.

This is a Contract position based out of O Fallon, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
