Job summary

Polaris Industries in Huntsville, AL, seeks a quality inspector to perform inspection and measurement of parts, document findings, and support product lines with rapid problem resolution. You will work with multiple departments to ensure non-conforming materials are addressed and improvements are implemented.

You should have a High School diploma or GED, with AA or specialized training preferred, and strong communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; AA degree or specialized training preferred.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, both written and verbal.
  • Working knowledge of statistics and basic math; SPC experience.
  • Ability to operate critical measurement and test equipment.
  • Must be able to read blueprints, processes routings and BOMs.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and measure parts, components, and assemblies per procedures.
  • Document all inspections and qualifications using established formats.
  • Support ORV product lines with prompt problem identification and resolution.
  • Coordinate with departments to obtain prompt dispositions and corrective actions.
  • Develop or improve clear inspection procedures to save time and improve quality.
  • Perform duties assigned by Supervisor and work overtime as needed.

Job description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
  • Perform inspection and measurement of parts, components, and assemblies within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • All inspections and qualifications to be documented using established procedures and formats.
  • Support the assigned ORV product lines with prompt problem identification and resolution using the established model.
  • Work with all necessary departments to obtain solid problem resolution.
  • Initiate RMO's and notify the production supervisor(s) when non-conforming materials are found. Work with all appropriate departments to obtain prompt dispositions, and identify opportunities for corrective action.
  • Develop, or assist in the development or improvement of clear, concise inspection procedures to save time, prevent production of defective product, or in any other way improve the quality level of product.
  • Perform duties assigned by Supervisor.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime as required and mandated by production schedules.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, twist, turn, kneel, squat, and climb.
  • Stand and walk up to eight hours per day.
  • Work safely around moving equipment, power tools, and industrial vehicles.
  • It may be necessary to perform any of these functions up to eight hours a day.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
  • High School diploma or GED required. AA degree or specialized training preferred.
  • Display communication and leadership skills, both written and verbally.
  • Have a working knowledge of computer operation, basic and advanced math, and statistical process control.
  • Be able to operate all critical measurement and test equipment.
  • Be able to interpret and understand blueprints, process routings, B.O.M. and various manuals.
Polaris Huntsville Internal Promotion / Transfer Requirements:
  • New Hires must have 1-year Continuous Service from Polaris Hire Date
  • 6 Months Between Department Transfers or Promotions
  • No Active Corrective Actions
  • 2 or less Attendance Points
  • Must have received a 'Meets Expectation' in the most recent performance review, if applicable.
  • Resume Required
  • Interview Required
  • Candidates already assigned to the work unit (Assembly, Weld, Materials, Quality, etc.) will be considered first. If a suitable candidate is not identified, all other eligible candidates will be considered.
  • Failure to attend a scheduled interview (No Show), without notice, will result in being ineligible for future roles for 6 months.
  • If selected for the position, you are required to move into the position upon the effective date. If you are no longer interested in the position, you must withdraw prior to an offer being presented. If unable to accept the position as expected, you will be ineligible for future roles for 1 year from the date of refusal.
Base Pay Range:

$24.66 - $29.47
