Job summary

Dauch is seeking a Quality Technician to join our Newton, NC team on the 2nd shift. The role serves as the technical Quality resource for gear manufacturing and assembly, providing training, audits, containment actions, and process-improvement initiatives.

You will utilize existing procedures and measurement methods, read blueprints, and collaborate with Engineering and Ops to resolve quality issues, support PPAP/PTR tracking, and ensure compliance with internal and customer requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5+ years of manufacturing experience with a focus on Quality, preferably in automotive.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts training on Quality and EHS systems across shifts.
  • Performs product and process audits to ensure compliance with internal procedures and customer requirements.
  • Collects data to support problem solving and process validation.
  • Inspects raw materials and investigates suspect materials or finished goods, initiating containment as needed.
  • Documents rework procedures and trains operators on proper rework processes.
  • Assists Quality Engineers with tracking PPAP/PTR and management of changes.
  • Resolves quality issues and supports cross-functional teams in problem solving.
  • Interacts with Engineering and Ops to share knowledge of off-shift activities.
  • Presents data to management for decision making.

Dauch is looking for a Quality Technician to join our team in Newton, NC. This is a fully onsite position on the 2nd shift.

Job Description

This individual will be the technical Quality resource for Gear Manufacturing and Assembly. They will provide training and audit function for Quality. They will also establish containments to protect the customer from flow-out of non-conformances. This individual will utilize existing procedures and measurement methods, and drive process improvement activities.

Preferred qualifications include ability to read blueprints and gauges, forklift experience, IATF/ISO audits and internal auditor experience, as well as SPC and SAP experience.

  • Conducts training on existing Quality and EHS systems across shifts.
  • Conducts product and processes audits to ensure compliance with internal procedures and customer requirements for Quality (ensures process adherence to the control plan).
  • Collects data to support problem solving, process validation, change implantation, and/or statistical data to support Quality Engineering function.
  • Inspects raw materials prior to use. Investigates suspect raw materials or finished goods found during the machining or assembly process. Initiates sorts and ensure proper containment of finished goods that are determined to be suspect.
  • Documents rework procedures and train operators on proper rework process.
  • Identifies non-standard practices and documents it for customer approval. Authorizes non-standard work.
  • Assists Quality Engineers with tracking of PPAP/PTR, trail or deviated parts, as well as management of changes implemented for their shift.
  • Resolves problems, makes process improvements, and responds to internal and external customer inquiries regarding quality issues.
  • Collaborates with Engineering and Ops Manufacturing teams to share knowledge of off-shift activities.
  • Supports teams in structured problem-solving efforts to improve both product and processes.
  • Organizes and presents data to management for decision making.
  • Resolves disputes with internal and external customer involving product quality.
  • Provide initial response to afterhours customer inquiries concerning product, service and deliveries.
  • Complies with all company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Promptly communicates to respective Manager, when there is an issue affecting the Environment, Health, Safety or Quality.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills And Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5+ years of relevant manufacturing experience with a focus on Quality, preferably within the automotive industry.
