Job summary

American Axle & Mfg., Inc. is seeking a Quality Technician to help maintain quality standards for produced parts. You will inspect parts on the factory floor and in laboratories, using gauges and measurement techniques to verify dimensions, and operate CMM equipment in quality labs.

The role includes performing weekly LPAs and maintaining inventory control while adhering to safety procedures. The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, strong communication skills, and

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience reading blueprints or engineering drawings is essential.
  • Knowledge of GD&T principles is important for interpretation of tolerances.
  • Good communication skills and teamwork are expected.
  • Ability to identify root causes and analyze defects.
  • Knowledge of gage R&R and measurement system analysis.
  • Familiarity with CMM and measurement equipment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and initiative.

Responsibilities

Job Description Summary

The Quality Technician is responsible for helping to maintain quality standards of produced parts while adhering to the company policies and procedures.

Job Description:
  • Regular part inspections on the floor and in the laboratories
  • Utilizing various gages and measurement techniques to verify dimensions of production parts
  • Operate computerized gauging in quality labs
  • Inspection and disposition of gages
  • Complete weekly LPAs
  • NCM inventory and organization
  • Meet time and schedule standards assigned for work
  • Identify and record any problems relating to product, process, and quality system
  • Provide input on improving operation efficiencies
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Operate machines in accordance with process sheets and any other required paperwork (i.e. drawings, specifications, etc.)
  • All other duties as assigned
