Kondex Corporation, a leading manufacturer of cutting and wear-resistant components, is seeking a Quality Technician to support off-shift operations on the manufacturing floor. You will perform precision inspections, run CMM programs, and contribute to continuous improvement with production teams.

You will read engineering drawings, execute GD&T checks, maintain quality data, and help root-cause issues while ensuring products meet customer specifications.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in a technical manufacturing environment
• 1-2 years of CMM experience required
• Associate degree preferred in quality or related field
• ASQ or similar certification is a plus

Job Description

As a Quality Technician, you will serve as the primary quality resource supporting manufacturing operations during off-shift hours. This position combines hands-on inspection work, CMM programming, process auditing, and problem-solving to ensure products meet customer specifications and Kondex's quality standards. Working closely with machine operators, team leads, and production personnel, you will provide technical guidance, investigate quality concerns, perform precision measurements, and help drive continuous improvement initiatives across the facility. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the manufacturing floor, working directly with production teams, and making real-time decisions that impact quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction. The Quality Technician will have significant autonomy and play a key role in supporting second and third shift operations.

Including the following, but not limited to:

• Perform inspections of varying complexity using calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM equipment, optical comparators, and other precision measuring tools to verify product conformance.
• Develop, maintain, and run CMM inspection programs, with a strong preference for experience using Zeiss CMMs and Calypso software.
• Conduct process audits and spot checks throughout the manufacturing floor to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Work directly with machine operators, team leads, and supervisors to communicate quality concerns, provide technical guidance, and resolve issues quickly.
• Develop and maintain SPC methods and statistical controls to monitor manufacturing processes and ensure products remain within established tolerances.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprint specifications, and GD&T callouts to accurately inspect and evaluate components.
• Investigate quality issues, identify root causes, initiate corrective actions, and partner with cross-functional teams to implement permanent solutions.
• Maintain inspection records, quality data, capability studies, Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIRs), Gage R&R studies, and other required documentation.
• Support and monitor the gage calibration program, ensuring measuring equipment remains accurate and properly maintained.
• Evaluate and authorize dispositions for non-conforming materials while supporting containment and corrective action efforts.
• Identify opportunities to improve quality, inspection processes, and manufacturing efficiency while supporting lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Partner with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to maintain a culture focused on quality, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Experience & Education:

• 4+ years of experience in a technical manufacturing environment, preferably involving CNC machining, metal stamping, heat treating, or similar processes
• Minimum 1-2 years of CMM experience required
• Associate degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical field preferred
• Experience programming or modifying CMM inspection programs strongly preferred
• Experience with Zeiss CMM and Calypso software highly preferred
• Additional education or training related to quality systems, inspection methods, or manufacturing processes is a plus
• ASQ or other recognized Quality certification is preferred

Skills:

• Experience with CMM operation and programming required; Zeiss and Calypso experience preferred
• Strong understanding of dimensional inspection, GD&T, and blueprint reading
• Proficiency with precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and optical comparators
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with production and engineering teams
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
