Job description

Torus is headquartered in Utah and is expanding manufacturing at our 545,000-square-foot facility in Salt Lake City called GigaOne. We are the world’s first mesh energy infrastructure, uniting communities through resilient, sustainable, and intelligent power. We design, engineer, manufacture, install, and support our systems end-to-end, standing behind them throughout their lifecycle. Torus systems help reduce costs, lower emissions, and protect facilities from outages, while strengthening the security and reliability of the broader utility grid. Torus is committed to American manufacturing, engineering excellence, and building energy systems that last.

Torus has raised over $267 million from investors like Magnetar, Mercado, ICONIQ and Origin Ventures. The investments are helping to accelerate deployment of modular power plants across utilities, data centers, and industrial sectors. This investor confidence reflects the strength of our team, technology as well as the scale of the problem we are solving.

At Torus, you will be part of something larger than a single product or technology. Your work will help build energy infrastructure that supports and strengthens our electrical grid, critical systems, industry, and communities for decades to come. We value accountability, collaboration, and clear thinking. We are looking for people who want to solve hard problems and build things that matter.

About the Role

The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring that all products, components, and sub-

assemblies meet quality standards and customer specifications before they are shipped or

moved to the next phase of production. This role involves conducting visual and function tests,

examining materials, reading specifications, using precision measuring tools, and documenting

inspection results to maintain high levels of quality control. As well as perform process audits,

root cause analysis, nonconformance review and disposition, and assist in rework/repair. This is

a hands-on opportunity for someone who wants to help build and mature Torus’s Quality

Management System (QMS) from the ground up — not step into a system that is already fully

  • Read and interpret prints, schematics, engineering drawings, or product manuals to determine required standards
  • Use precision measuring tools for electrical and mechanical assemblies, such as microscopes, multimeters, calipers, micrometers, gauges, and coordinate measuring
  • Identify and reject all products and materials that fail to meet quality expectations and clearly label them for disposition and analysis
  • Document inspection results by completing detailed reports and logs, and input data into the company database and quality tracking systems
  • Work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to perform in depth root causes analysis and testing to identify defects and suggest improvements
  • Assist quality management and engineering teams to investigate reported issues
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of core Quality Management System (QMS) processes, including Nonconformance Management Auditing, Traceability, Complaint Management, Receiving and Shipping, and Employee Training
  • Maintain accurate traceability records across incoming materials, work-in-process, and finished goods to support lot/serial tracking, recalls, and field investigations
  • Support supplier quality activities, including incoming inspection, supplier nonconformances, and supplier corrective action requests (SCARs)
  • Participate in internal audits and help prepare for external and regulatory audits, including those related to UL certification requirements
  • Help create, organize, and maintain controlled quality documents (work instructions, inspection criteria, forms) within the document control system
  • Support employee training records and activities related to quality procedures, work instructions, and product requirements
  • Assist with receiving and shipping inspections to verify materials and products meet specifications prior to acceptance or shipment
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment. Follow company policies and procedures, as well as industry standards and guidelines, to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
