• Perform laboratory testing, sample preparation, and analysis to support billet and slab casthouse operations.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including spectrometers, optical microscopes, CNC machines, heat treat ovens, testing equipment, and material preparation tools.
• Accurately document, report, and maintain product and process records to support traceability, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
• Support manufacturing process improvement, statistical monitoring, and quality assurance initiatives across Production and Metallurgical teams.
• Maintain laboratory procedures, work instructions, Measurement Assurance documentation, and ISO-related records.
• Perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment and assist in maintaining clean, safe, and organized work areas.
• Train and support team members on laboratory equipment, testing procedures, and safe work practices.
• Assist with general laboratory operations including material handling and fork truck operation as needed.

Compensation & Schedule

• Starting Wage: $27.00/hour
• Night Shift Premium: Additional $1.30/hour
• Schedule: Rotating 3-2-2-3 schedule (3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off)
• Shift Time: Nights: 4:45 PM - 5:00 AM

What You'll Do

In this role, you will support laboratory operations, quality systems, and process improvement initiatives throughout the casthouse operation.

Key responsibilities include:

• Perform laboratory testing, sample preparation, and analysis to support billet and slab casthouse operations
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including spectrometers, optical microscopes, CNC machines, heat treat ovens, testing equipment, and material preparation tools
• Accurately document, report, and maintain product and process records to support traceability, quality standards, and compliance requirements
• Support manufacturing process improvement, statistical monitoring, and quality assurance initiatives across Production and Metallurgical teams

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
• Ability to safely use cutting and grinding equipment including saws, grinders, sanders, and related tools

• Ability to work safely in an industrial laboratory and manufacturing environment
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline
• Prior laboratory or manufacturing testing experience
• Mechanical aptitude and computer proficiency
• Experience operating a Spectrometer and Optical Microscope
• Ability to learn and safely operate small machine tools and fork trucks
• Experience supporting quality systems and process improvement initiatives
• Familiarity with statistical monitoring and process capability methods
