Job summary

Morton Industries, LLC is seeking a quality inspector to test and inspect products at various stages of production, interpret drawings, and ensure compliance with quality standards.

You will record data, prepare graphs and reports, perform destructive and nondestructive tests, and contribute to process improvements while upholding safety and accuracy.

The role requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and collaboration with management and engineering staff to meet reliability goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; may require some manufacturing experience.
• Proficiency with spreadsheet applications such as Excel, including pivot tables.

Responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, or formulas and confer with management to determine quality standards.
• Select products for evaluation at specified stages and inspect dimensions, paint, cleanliness, and appearance.
• Record data using statistical quality control methods and prepare charts or graphs.
• Evaluate data and write reports to indicate deviations from standards and suggest improvements.
• Set up and perform destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products.

SUMMARYTests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSInclude, but are not limited to, the following:Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.Selects products for evaluation at specified stages in production process, and inspects products for qualities such as dimensions, cleanliness, paint quality, and appearance.Records data, applying statistical quality control procedures.Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.Prepares graphs or charts of data or enters data into computer for analysis, on topics such as Part Production Approval Process (PPAPS), Control Plans, Gage Repeatability, and Process Capability StudiesAll other duties as assignedTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
