Job summary

Smyth-Minneapolis is seeking a Quality Technician to join our production team in Minneapolis, MN. The position is full-time, with an hourly wage range of $22.00 to $25.00, and focuses on testing and inspecting products, maintaining quality, and supporting ISO/BRC quality systems.

You will work with multiple departments to prevent defects, develop SOPs, and drive Lean improvements while delivering reliable, high-quality labels to customers.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent
• Gain certification in basic HACCP
• Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written English
• Preferred: Two or more years direct work experience in a quality control capacity in the printing industry
• A Plus: Experience with Lean Manufacturing and ISO quality systems

Responsibilities

• Test and inspect products at various stages of the production process and compile data from the tests
• Assist with maintaining quality and reliability of products
• Support the ISO and BRC quality systems with the Operational Excellence Manager
• Help increase awareness of what staff should be looking for to eliminate defects based on findings
• Work closely with all departments to improve service and quality for customers
• Assist with developing and maintaining SOPs in accordance with ISO and Lean Manufacturing
• Identify, recommend, and implement areas for Lean improvement/modification

Key Responsibilities for Quality Technician include:

Education, Skills, and Experience:

• Required : High school diploma or equivalent
• Required : 1-2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Required : Gain certification in basic HACCP
• Required : Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in the English language
• Preferred : Two or more years direct work experience in a quality control capacity in the printing industry
• A Plus : Experience with Lean Manufacturing and ISO quality systems
