Job summary

Clean Power Staffing seeks a Field Quality Control Technician to conduct daily inspections across utility-scale solar construction sites. Job description

This role is responsible for conducting field inspections and supporting quality control activities throughout utility-scale solar construction projects. This position ensures that construction activities, materials, and workmanship comply with approved drawings, project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and established quality standards. The technician will identify and document quality issues, support NCR and punch-list tracking, verify corrective actions, and work closely with project leadership, subcontractors, and field personnel to help maintain project quality and prevent issues from impacting schedule, cost, or performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily field inspections of utility-scale solar construction activities, including:
• Pile installation and foundation work
• Tracker installation and alignment
• Structural steel and mechanical assembly
• DC and AC electrical installation
• Trenching, conduit, grounding, and cable installation
• Inverter, transformer, and equipment installation
• Verify construction activities comply with approved drawings, project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and quality standards.
• Perform inspections and document results using project-specific checklists, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and quality forms.
• Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming work, defects, and workmanship concerns.
• Assist with the issuance and tracking of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), punch-list items, and corrective action requests.
• Verify corrective actions have been completed and properly documented.
• Review materials and equipment for damage, proper installation, and compliance with project requirements.
• Support quality hold-point and witness-point inspections with project management, engineering, owners, and third-party inspectors.
• Maintain accurate daily quality reports, inspection records, photographs, test results, and supporting documentation.
• Assist with monitoring testing activities, including torque verification, electrical testing, grounding checks, and other project-specific inspections, as qualified.
• Coordinate with superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and field engineers to resolve quality issues promptly.
• Support audits and quality reviews conducted by the project Quality Manager, EPC contractor, owner, or other stakeholders.
• Promote a quality-focused culture and ensure issues are communicated before they affect schedule, cost, or project performance.
• Perform other quality-related duties as assigned by project leadership.

Qualifications

• 1–3+ years of experience in quality control, quality assurance, field inspection, or construction; utility-scale solar or renewable energy experience preferred.
• Experience working in an active construction environment, preferably on utility-scale solar, electrical, mechanical, civil, or renewable energy projects.
• Familiarity with solar construction activities, including structural, mechanical, civil, and electrical installation.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and installation documentation.
• Understanding of quality control processes, inspection procedures, ITPs, punch lists, NCRs, and corrective actions.
• Experience completing field inspection reports, checklists, photographs, and other quality documentation.
• Familiarity with construction testing activities, such as torque verification, electrical testing, and grounding checks, as applicable.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify workmanship issues and nonconforming conditions.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with field crews, subcontractors, engineers, and project leadership.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize inspections, and maintain accurate records in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and navigate active construction sites.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with electronic quality management or construction documentation systems preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training, construction certifications, or relevant education preferred.
• OSHA 10/30, quality certifications, or other relevant construction credentials are a plus.
