Job summary

The Dixon Group, based in Chestertown, MD, is seeking a Quality Technician to perform in-process production audits, inspect materials, and manage gauge calibration. The role emphasizes precision, metrology expertise, and adherence to quality standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in STEM preferred.
  • 1–3 years in quality, inspection, engineering, or manufacturing roles preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use standard measurement tools.
  • Familiar with ANSI, ASTM, API, and 3A specs.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and approve materials and in-process/finished goods against drawings and specs.
  • Perform daily inspections using height gauges, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Document inspection results in reports/logs and track rework and scrap.
  • Communicate non-conformances and follow up for corrective actions.
  • Issue corrective actions per internal quality guidelines.
  • Maintain production gauges and coordinate calibration as needed.
  • Verify gauges operate properly and manage inspections/repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain SOPs for the Quality department and update as needed.
  • Assist auditing of procedures and suggest improvements for non-conformances.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality systems.

Location: 365 Haacke Drive, Chestertown, MD 21620
Shift Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday
Pay Range: $19.00 - $24.00/Hour

The Dixon Group is seeking a Quality Technician to join our team in Chestertown, MD! In this role, you will be responsible for in-process production audits, inspecting incoming materials, and managing the calibration of gauges. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in precision and has a strong background in inspection, measurement, and metrology.

What You'll Do:
  • Inspect and approve incoming materials, in-process production, and finished goods against engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Perform daily product inspections utilizing precision measurement tools, including height gauges, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Document inspection results accurately through reports, logs, and database entries, including tracking rework and scrap.
  • Communicate non-conformances promptly to affected departments and follow up to ensure required adjustments are made.
  • Issue Corrective Actions as appropriate, strictly following internal quality guidelines.
  • Maintain and manage all production gauges; perform in-house calibration where possible and coordinate third-party calibration when necessary.
  • Verify the proper operation of gauges, managing necessary inspections and repairs.
  • Ensure strict compliance with company quality standards, safety practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Quality department, executing revisions and updates as needed.
  • Assist in auditing internal work procedures and provide actionable recommendations to address non-conformances.
  • Participate actively in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing quality systems and reducing rework.
What We’re Looking For:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in STEM or related coursework preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a quality, inspection, engineering, or manufacturing role preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and utilize standard measurement tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical measurement equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and thread gauges).
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings, blueprints, and industry specifications (e.g., ANSI, ASTM, API, and 3A).
  • Familiarity with quality documentation, reporting, and accurate data entry.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
