Job summary

The Dixon Group in Chestertown, MD, is seeking an experienced Quality Control Supervisor to lead a quality team and drive our quality framework. You will act as a technical liaison between engineering and production, translating designs into manufacturable, high‑quality components while embedding quality from the design stage.

This autonomous role requires proactive leadership, cross‑functional collaboration, and a focus on continuous improvement to balance long‑term strategy with daily quality

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or related technical field; equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in quality assurance/control, ideally in a manufacturing or prototyping environment.
  • CAD software certificate such as CSWA (SolidWorks CAD Design Associate) or CSWP (SolidWorks CAD Design Professional) is helpful.
  • Proven ability to inspire and mobilize teams toward ambitious goals; a mentor who is passionate about developing talent and fostering an inclusive team environment.
  • Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications using GD&T standards.
  • Hands‑on mechanical aptitude for fitting and assembling parts for functional testing.
  • Proficient in software tools including Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, CAM, and PDM systems. Ability to adapt to new platforms as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and train a team of quality technicians.
  • Facilitate regular cross‑departmental meetings, bridging gaps between design intent and manufacturing practicality.
  • Apply machining, quality, and engineering methods to maintain dimensional tolerances and reduce scrap.
  • Ensure adherence to Quality Management System (QMS), policies and procedures.
  • Review and approve 2D drawings with manufacturing feasibility in mind; obtain required quality stamps.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and manage Corrective Action Reports (CAR) for defects, non‑conformances, and customer complaints.
  • Provide actionable feedback to Engineering and Production.
  • Operate and interpret data from advanced basic measuring equipment, including Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), Optical Comparator, micrometers, calipers, gage blocks, radius gauges, ring and plug gauges, hardness testers, thread gauges, indicators, and protractors.
  • Interpret and apply standards such as ANSI, ASTM, API, ISO9001, and ASME Y14.5 (GD&T).
  • Manage gauge calibration and maintain calibration databases.
  • Perform internal and external quality audits.

Location: This role is based out of two Chestertown, MD locations, with time balanced between both offices to ensure full departmental support

Work Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday

Salary Range: $65k-$90k per year

What You'll Do
