Job summary

Nortech Systems in Bemidji, MN, seeks a detail-oriented Quality Technician passionate about continuous improvement and quality excellence. The role supports lifesaving medical and aerospace projects by performing measurements, audits, and process improvements in collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Use electrical, mechanical, electromechanical and electronic measuring instruments.

  • Provide tools, training, and guidance to continually improve product and process quality.
  • Support attainment of department quality and cost goals.
  • Report key measurements to management as directed.
  • Promote a collaborative, continuous improvement culture.
  • Coordinate First Article inspection as assigned.
  • Assist in closing customer complaints.
  • Calibrate and repair measuring instruments per standards.

We're seeking a detail-oriented, analytical Quality Technician who is passionate about continuous improvement and quality excellence. The ideal candidate enjoys solving problems, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, and working collaboratively across teams to drive operational improvements.

The pay range for this role is $20 - $23 hourly. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, and other candidate qualifications.

  • Perform basic quality techniques and report on materials, returns and processes.
  • Coordinate the First Article process as assigned or directed.
  • Assist with coordinating the successful closure of assigned customer complaints.
  • Test, calibrate and repair electrical, mechanical, electromechanical and electronic measuring, recording and indicating instruments for conformance to established standards as assigned.
  • Assist with disassembling instruments and equipment and inspecting components for defects, issuing necessary repairs, maintenance and calibration as directed.
  • Devise formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations
  • Assist Engineering and Manufacturing in formulating test, calibration, repair and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording and indicating instruments and
    equipment as assigned.
  • Demonstrate and support Nortech’s Mission, Core Values, policies and procedures at all times.

Education & Background:

Associates (A.A.) degree or equivalent certification in a manufacturing, quality control, or related technical discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Mathematics knowledge including basic calculations, fractions, and measuring.

Experience:

  • Reading and accurately interpreting technical instructions including engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Using electrical, mechanical, electromechanical and electronic measuring, recording and indicating instruments for conformance to established standards.
  • Using electronic devices and computing systems including Microsoft Office and manufacturing/quality control software applications.

Preferred:

  • Three months’ related work experience as described above.
  • Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment.
