Job summary

Nucor Building Systems in Terrell, TX is seeking a Quality Control professional for the continental night shift (6p–6a, 3–4 shifts/wk). The role emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement within a fabrication environment.

The successful candidate will read shop drawings, inspect welds, and support IQR processes while upholding Nucor’s safety standards and production goals.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and interpret assembly drawings and reports.
• Must retain a current CWI certification or can achieve CWI in 1 year.
• Experience working in a fabrication facility.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret shop drawings and reports.
• Understand the IQR process and assist in facilitating it.
• Support internal quality checks and perform spot audits; prepare training to educate and correct deficiencies.
• Drive continuous improvement focusing on safety, quality, cost and productivity.
• Manage, coordinate and continuously improve the division Quality Control Program.
• Work on continental night shift 6p–6a (3-4 shifts per week) and cover other shifts as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.

Basic Job Functions

• Must be able to read and interpret shop drawings.
• Must understand the IQR process and help facilitate IQR process.
• Support internal quality checks and perform spot audits, prepare training as needed to educate and correct deficiencies.
• Seeking continuous improvement in every facet of team performance with a keen emphasis on safety, quality, cost, and productivity.
• Manage, coordinate and continuously improve the division Quality Control Program.
• This position is for continental night shift 6p - 6a (3-4 shifts a week) but must be willing to fill inspection needs on other shifts when necessary.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor Buildings Group Texas will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).
• Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be able to read and interpret assembly drawings and reports.
• Must be able to visually inspect welds and identify acceptable and unacceptable weld conditions.
• Minimum of High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Experience working in a fabrication facility.
• Must retain a current CWI certification or can achieve CWI in 1 year.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with inspection of metal building systems components
• Previous experience in manufacturing metal buildings.
• Current NDT Level I or Level II using UT (weld inspection)
• Must have supervisor and/or manager recommendation and must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
