Job summary

Nucor Corporation is hiring a QC Technician at Skyline Steel LLC in Newton, IL. The role reports to the Quality Supervisor and has authority to stop fabrication for non-conformances, with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Required certifications include CWI and UT Level 2, with preferred supervisory experience and ERP system familiarity. Travel to job sites and other Nucor facilities is expected. Excellent benefits and stability are offered.

Qualifications

• CWI (Certified Weld Inspector) certification is required.
• UT Level 2 Certification is required.
• Willingness to travel on short notice and to various sites for inspection and training.
• Commitment to safety policies and housekeeping standards at all times.

Responsibilities

• Perform and coordinate UT testing within the facility.
• Report progress of work in process, rework/repair orders, and production problems.
• Prepare reports following UT testing per order requirements.
• Travel to job sites and other Nucor facilities for inspection, testing and training.
• Support production reporting and participate in audits.

Basic Job Functions:

Reports directly to the Quality Supervisor and has the authority, responsibility and organizational freedom to identify quality problems and recommend solutions. The QC Technician will have full authority to stop work on all fabrication when non-conformances are found. Must be able to participate in and promote an atmosphere of cooperation and teamwork.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for performing and coordinating all UT testing within the facility.
• Report on progress of work in process, rework/repair orders, and production problems.
• Prepare reports following UT testing in accordance with order requirements.
• Must be willing to learn and work within Invex to assist with production reporting.
• Must be able to travel on short notice as required.
• Travel may include job site and other Nucor facilities for inspection, testing and training.
• Will work on shop floor to support operations as required.
• Perform audits.
• All other duties as instructed by direct supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

• CWI (Certified Weld Inspector) - Currently hold certification
• UT Level 2 Certification - Currently hold certification

• Bachelor's or technical degree helpful but not required
