Job summary

Staff Management | SMX seeks an experienced Quality Group Leader to oversee a small QA team (1-3 inspectors) and ensure the highest quality across our manufacturing operations in Downers Grove, IL. This is a full-time, first-shift role with a 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM schedule.

You will lead inspections, review FAI/PPAP requirements, maintain AS9100 compliance, and collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, and customers to resolve quality issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Engineering/Manufacturing or 5+ years aerospace quality experience.
• Strong AS9100 knowledge and drawings interpretation.
• Experience with FAI, PPAP, traceability and quality records.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of QA Inspectors.
• Perform and oversee receiving, in-process, and final inspections.
• Review customer quality requirements including FAI, PPAP, traceability, and quality documentation.
• Maintain aerospace & defense customer portals and quality records.
• Create and manage quality procedures, inspection plans, and work instructions.
• Generate Certificates of Conformance (CoCs) and nonconformance reports.
• Work with manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, and customers to resolve quality concerns.
• Schedule source inspections and monitor vendor performance.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100 standards and customer specifications.

Job Responsibilities

• Knowledge of calibration, inspection methods, and quality documentation.
• Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment and perform detailed visual inspections.

The hourly rate for this position is anticipated between $40.00 - $50.00 per hour. This range is a good-faith estimate, based on the shift you work and other considerations permitted by law.
