Role Overview:
The Quality Systems Technician is responsible for performing daily quality checks and maintaining the documentation required to support the company's food safety and quality programs. The position plays an important role in maintaining compliance with BRCGS standards and supporting preparation for third-party audits.
This individual will monitor production quality, verify Critical Control Points (CCPs) and Preventive Controls as directed, maintain quality and food safety records, and communicate deviations to the appropriate teams. The role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
(1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM - East Brunswick, NJ /2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM - Carteret & East Brunswick, NJ)
Job Requirements:
- Background in Quality, Food Safety, or Quality Systems within a food manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of BRCGS standards and food safety requirements.
- Familiarity with quality documentation, recordkeeping, and document control.
- Knowledge of production quality specifications, including color, shape, size, taste, packaging, and other applicable requirements.
- Familiarity with Critical Control Points (CCPs), Preventive Controls, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Bilingual English/Spanish required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to identify and promptly communicate quality deviations or food safety concerns.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency and commitment to quality standards.
- Ability to follow company safety policies and procedures and use required safety equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support BRCGS Compliance: Assist with maintaining annual BRCGS requirements and ensuring the facility remains prepared for third-party audits.
- Maintain Food Safety Documentation: Ensure supporting food safety documentation related to BRCGS standards is properly organized, maintained, and readily available.
- Monitor Product Quality: Review production activities to ensure consistent product quality, including color, shape, size, taste, packaging, and other applicable standards.
- Coordinate Product Safety: Work closely with Production, Maintenance, Sanitation, and Warehouse to support product safety throughout the manufacturing process.
- Oversee Sanitation Operations: Supervise the Sanitation Department and ensure sanitation activities and requirements are properly supported.
- Manage Sanitation Supplies: Monitor and order sanitation chemicals and supplies as needed.
- Supervise Quality Systems Staff: Provide oversight to Quality Systems Technicians and support the effective execution of quality-related activities.
- Support Audit Readiness: Assist with maintaining organized records and ensuring the facility is prepared for BRCGS and third-party audits.
- Maintain Quality Standards: Help ensure production activities consistently meet established quality and food safety requirements.
- Support Cross-Functional Communication: Coordinate quality and food safety matters with relevant departments and provide follow-up when issues arise.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
